Facts about the Sun Rays and Light Rays.
UVB is your burning ray, provides the color to the skin and with too much exposure will go red
UVA is the danger ray, which penetrates into the dermis and does most of the damage.
HEV (BL) Blue Light from laptops, computers, smart phones and fluorescent and CFL bulbs, which effects the Hypodermis (is the bottom layer of the skin, connecting the dermis to muscles and bones).
Important to know.
*UVA penetrates through glass. 320-400 Nanometers can penetrate through glass UVB 280-320 nanometers is mostly filtered by glass.
*Sand and snow reflect up to 85% of UVR.
* UVB is transmitted through clouds.
Types of sunscreens.
1) Organic sunscreen does not have titanium dioxide and therefore not getting enough protection. It only provides a film on the skin. Minimal protection.
2)Inorganic or physical sunscreen which does have titanium dioxide and has been approved by the FDA as a safe ingredient. This will reflect and scatter sunrays and absorb some of it.
Signs to look out for on a Sunscreen Bottle.
"SPF 50" measures how much solar energy UVB is required to produce sunburn on a protected skin relative to to the amount of solar energy required to produce sunburn on unprotected skin.
" +" behind SPF 50 means the sun protection Factor (UVB) the burning ray.
"PA+++ " look out for this sign on the bottle as this shows it has UVA conformity.
